Who are we?
Funeral Expert.com was created to provide consumers with a reliable and trustworthy source of information about funeral service providers, with the success of the website being solely reliant upon the recommendation of its users. 

The business was founded in June 2009 by the very experienced senior funeral manager Liam Roberts, after having worked within the funeral industry for 23 years. During this time he was involved with  everything from traditional funerals, exhumations, repatriations from  various countries around the world, assisting the home office on numerous national disasters and latterly as the Operations Manager for one of the UK's largest funeral service providers. He also witnessed many of the political and strategic changes which now dictate how some of today's leading funeral service providers operate. Some of these experiences left him disillusioned at how they have adversely impacted on the most important people of all, the bereaved. 

For example, more recently the funeral industry has seen a much greater emphasis and focus placed on the need to secure business through the sales of pre-paid funeral plans, thus ensuring an increase in future market share. Whilst this is perfectly understandable and indeed beneficial to the bereavement process itself, many of the sales and marketing tactics are so tightly focused on increasing sales and profit alone, that they have left the usual victims of transparency, integrity, good customer service and value for money a little bruised. 

Thus, when presented with the opportunity of voluntary redundancy at the age of 43 and following several failed years of trying alongside other like minded colleagues to stop the tide of change towards profit at all costs, Liam opted for redundancy. Another reason for him doing so, was the firmly held conviction that with the growing number of consumer advice and comparison websites, there must surely exist the need for one within the funeral industry. So here we are! 

Our Aim
Our aim is not to disparage the death care industry but rather to educate the public as to which funeral service provider you can truly trust, based on both their standard of service and associated charges. In general terms the UK's funeral industry is still one of the most professional amongst any of its worldwide peers, employing many of the most dedicated and caring individuals you could ever hope to encounter during your time of need.

However, it operates as an entirely self policed industry with no licensing required, which when combined with the taboo that surrounds the subject of  funerals, allows it to operate with considerable secrecy. As we know, a lack of licensing added to an ability to operate within relative secrecy, rarely make good bedfellows for the consumer. Sadly, even within such a sensitive and trusting environment as funeral service, the same is also sometimes true. We aim to change that and with your help, (please see our feedback section) protect bereaved families from falling victim to poor service and over charging.
